Beef Dishes That Range from Sunday Roast to Asian Stir Fry

The beef collection runs across four main dishes: Roast Beef (with Steamed Vegetables or Roast Vegetables), Teriyaki Beef (with Hokkien Noodles or Cauliflower Rice), Beef Bolognese (with Penne Pasta or Low Carb Spaghetti) and Italian Meatballs (with Mash or Roast Vegetables). Cuts vary by dish: roasts use lean topside, bolognese and meatballs use NZ lean mince, teriyaki uses thinly sliced rump. Most meals deliver 30 to 40g of protein per serve at 400 to 550 kcal.

  • Real vegetables alongside the protein, not garnish-sized portions
  • Cooked weekly, sealed and shipped chilled

Choosing Between the Beef Meals

Pick by mood. Roast Beef with Steamed Vegetables is the classic Sunday-dinner option, low fuss and broadly familiar. Italian Meatballs and Beef Bolognese are comfort food, ideal for evenings when you want something warming. Teriyaki Beef sits at the more interesting end of the spectrum, with the Hokkien Noodles version landing as a higher-carb meal and the Cauliflower Rice version cutting carbs by roughly two-thirds. If you eat lunch at your desk, the Bolognese travels and reheats best. For shared meals, the Italian Meatballs with Mash holds up to a side salad if you want to bulk it out. The high protein meals filter, the low carb meal range and the chicken collection all contain options that pair well with the dishes here for a varied week.

Sourcing, Cuts and How They Cook

Beef cuts are matched to the cooking method instead of being chosen by price. Topside is used for the Roast Beef because it stays tender at low temperature without drying out, lean mince is used for the bolognese and meatballs because it absorbs sauce well without becoming greasy, and rump is used for the teriyaki because it sears quickly and stays juicy when sliced thin. All beef comes from South Island suppliers, mostly grass-fed by season and finishing standard. The bolognese and meatballs simmer for several hours during prep, which is why the sauce tastes deeper than what a mid-week home cook can usually produce in 30 minutes. Reheat the bolognese with a splash of water to keep the pasta loose.

FAQs
What cut of beef is used?

Roasts use lean topside cooked low and slow until tender, mince dishes (Beef Bolognese, Italian Meatballs) use lean NZ beef mince, and the teriyaki uses thinly sliced rump seared at high heat to keep the texture juicy. Each cut is matched to the cooking method instead of being chosen by price. Specifics on the cut and cooking time are listed on each product page.

Are the beef meals high in protein?

Yes. Most deliver 30 to 40g of protein per serve, with Roast Beef with Vegetables sitting at the top of the range thanks to its lean topside cut. The Bolognese and Italian Meatballs sit slightly lower (around 28 to 32g) since the lean mince is balanced with pasta or mash. Combined with the carb base, total calories range from 400 to 550 kcal per tray.

How do I reheat the bolognese?

Microwave for 4 to 5 minutes from chilled, stirring once halfway through to distribute the heat evenly. The pasta absorbs sauce on standing, so a small splash of water before reheating keeps the texture loose and prevents the sauce from drying out. Let the tray rest for 30 seconds after microwaving so the heat settles and the pasta finishes absorbing flavour.

Is the Italian Meatballs meal dairy-free?

The mash contains dairy from butter and milk, but the roast vegetables version is dairy-free with the same meatballs and tomato-based sauce. Both versions use NZ lean beef mince and the same in-house Italian sauce, so the only difference is the side. Always check the allergen panel on each product page for the current ingredient breakdown.

What's the lowest-carb beef meal?

Roast Beef with Steamed Vegetables is the lowest at under 15g net carbs per serve, followed by Teriyaki Beef with Cauliflower Rice and Beef Bolognese with Low Carb Spaghetti, both around 18 to 22g. The Italian Meatballs with Roast Vegetables also sits in the lower range. The full carb breakdown for each dish is on its product page, including total carbs, fibre and sugars.

Where does the beef come from?

South Island suppliers. We're based in Invercargill and source most of our beef regionally from established producers, mostly grass-fed by season and finishing standard. Cuts are matched to dishes based on cooking method (topside for roasts, lean mince for sauces, rump for stir fry). We don't currently carry organic or grass-fed-only certification, but the supply chain is fully NZ-based.

Can I freeze the beef meals at home?

Yes. Roast Beef and the bolognese freeze particularly well, retaining most of their flavour and texture for up to three months in a home freezer. Thaw in the fridge overnight before reheating for the best texture, and add a splash of water to pasta-based dishes before microwaving to keep them moist. The Italian Meatballs also freeze well; the mash side softens slightly but reheats acceptably.
