Frequently Asked Questions
How are meals delivered across NZ?
Orders are couriered overnight in insulated boxes with reusable ice packs that keep food below 4 degrees Celsius. North Island and South Island addresses receive deliveries within one business day of dispatch. You'll get a tracking link by email once the box leaves our kitchen, so you can plan to be home or arrange a safe drop-off.
Are the meals frozen or chilled?
Chilled, never frozen. Every meal is cooked, sealed and shipped within the same week, so you reheat from refrigerated instead of thawing from frozen. The chilled supply chain protects texture, especially in lean proteins and vegetables that frozen ready meals can dry out during the freeze-thaw cycle. Trays still freeze well at home if you want to extend shelf life past seven days.
How long do the meals last in the fridge?
Up to seven days from delivery, with the use-by date printed on each tray. The seven-day window assumes trays stay sealed and refrigerated below 4 degrees Celsius. Once opened, eat within 24 hours. Meals can also be frozen at home before the use-by date if you want to extend storage by a few weeks, though texture in pasta-based dishes can soften slightly after freezing.
Do you cater for dietary requirements?
Yes. Filter the menu by high protein, low carb, gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan or vegetarian, then narrow further by protein or cuisine. Allergens are listed on every product page including milk, egg, soy, peanut, tree nut, gluten and sesame. We are not a fully certified allergen-free kitchen, so anyone with severe allergies should review the allergen statement and contact us before ordering.
How much does each meal cost?
Single meals are priced between $14.99 and $16.99 depending on the recipe, with higher-protein and beef dishes at the upper end of the range. Bundles and recurring orders bring the per-meal cost down further, and first-time orders include a $20 discount. There's no subscription fee or membership cost on top of the meal price, and shipping is calculated separately based on delivery region.
Can I order without a subscription?
Yes. One-off boxes are available alongside recurring plans, with no minimum order and no commitment beyond the box you're ordering. You can also start with a recurring delivery and pause, skip or cancel at any point from your account dashboard. Most customers begin with a one-off box to test the menu before switching to a weekly or fortnightly plan.
Where do you source ingredients?
Meals are made in our Invercargill kitchen using NZ-grown produce wherever the season allows. Beef, lamb and chicken are sourced from established South Island suppliers, with seasonal fluctuation in vegetable origin depending on what's available locally. Imported ingredients are limited to specialty items like basmati rice, hokkien noodles and Thai curry pastes, sourced from established food-service suppliers with traceable origins.
